WSI95 Intensely aromatic with lavender, cedar, florals, and savory herbs along with a note of blackberry pie, all lifted by hints of fresh cream and vanilla spice. A core of fruit sweetness with firm, yet fine tannin structure. The finish is energetic and exceptionally long. Fermented entirely in closed-head French oak, creating a softness and roundness—the integration of oak is quite lovely. Aged 20 months in 60% new wood.

Monroy Wines released its inaugural vintage—a 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon from the Chalk Hill AVA of Sonoma County. The personal project of winemaker Adolfo Hernandez, the label is focused on the classic-style expression of Cabernet. Adolfo crafts wines reflecting the purity of the land, with complex and layered flavors that lead to a graceful finish. You’ll keep coming back for more to discover the intricate flavors unfolding in the glass. This is not a hedonistic,’knock you over the head’ style of Cabernet.
Monroy Wines is new to the small-batch Cabernet scene. Adolfo Hernandez’s career has consisted of being a key part of lauded winemaking teams at Eisele Vineyard under both the Araujo family and Chateau Latour, Checkerboard Vineyards, Pahlmeyer, and currently as the Associate Winemaker at Benovia in the Russian River. Adolfo creates Cabernet where elegance, purity of fruit, and finesse shine through.
Adolfo was named by Wine Enthusiast Magazine “as one of the Latinx experts changing the face of American wine.” A master pianist, biochemist and food lover, he was drawn to winemaking’s ageless combination of art and science. A career in luxury winemaking has given him the combined experiences to offer distinctive wines of his own composition.
