WSI93+ Bright, mouth-watering, mineral with great fleshy berry texture and flavors. Dense fruit viscosity that is followed by a burst of crisp minerality! Density without weight. Beautiful aromatics of cranberry/roses, white peach, white flowers. Elegant and racy.
In a very short time, this wine has become a huge favorite and it’s no mystery why. We were blown away by the pure, mineral driven fruit with plenty of violets, strawberries, crisp acidity and overall deliciousness. Don’t think too hard, just have fun! Great picnic wine from the wonderful Gamay grape!
Dominique Piron’s oldest known ancestor was born in Morgon in 1590. Since then, there have been 14 generations of wine growers in the family. Morgon and Moulin à Vent wines have long been renowned among France’s finest wines. Dominique seeks to create characterful terroir wines from his sloping vineyards. These are wines that showed us what we’d long been looking for from Beaujolais but had almost given up hope of finding.
Dominique also makes wines from six other Beaujolais crus, alongside his excellent Beaujolais-Villages, sparkling and still Chardonnay and fresh, crunchy Gamay rosé. “Dominique Piron has been one of the architects of the revival of Morgon, tackling with boundless energy the expression of wines of terroir, vinified in the pure tradition of Beaujolais,” declared Le Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France.
