WSI94+ Bold, rich, concentrated, ripe fruit. Deep purple color, followed by fabulous notes of black raspberry, currants, crushed rock and peppery herbs. Great mouth-feel is medium to full-bodied. The blend is dominated by Grenache, with Syrah and Mourvedreto balance out the flavors.
Estate Notes: 80% Grenache, 15% Mourvèdre and 5% Syrah. The estate’s top wine, made only in the finest of vintages. A selection of fruit from the estate’s best-situated parcels, ‘Montalivet,’ ‘La Crau,’ ‘Bois Dauphin’ and ‘Pied de Baud.’ The oldest parcel of Grenache vines was planted in 1901. Soils are mostly sandy, with some ‘galets roulés,’ or large quartz stones. Vine age 30-100+ years. Hand-harvested. Partially destemmed (60%); fermented on indigenous yeasts in cement tank. Aged 80% in older foudre, 10% in older demi-muid and 10% in older French oak barrels. Unfined and unfiltered.
