JD91 Moving to the two reds, the 2019 Pinot Noir comes from a cooler region south of Monterey. Its ruby/plum hue gives way to a spicy, more savory Pinot Noir with plenty of darker berry and cherry fruits, notes of dried earth, spice, and damp forest floor, ripe, velvety tannins, and a great finish. This savory, meaty, complex Pinot Noir will keep nicely for 3-4 years.
Estate Notes: Scented with notes of Bing cherry, raspberry jam and wild mint, there are savory aromas of shitake mushrooms, sage, and lavender. This wine shows the classic characteristics of this coastal AVA: salinity and mineral notes from the presence of fog off the Pacific Ocean with cherry cola raised aromatics. Deeply textured with soft tannins and an elegant, lifted finish. 1000 cases.
