JS94 This shows lots of chocolate and vanilla on the nose, together with ripe dark fruit and some wet earth. Floral undertones, too. Full-bodied and balanced with a meaty structure and ripe tannin. Yet, it’s easy to drink with a medium, fruity finish. Tight, dry and firm at the end. Modern and poised. Try from 2023.
WA93 The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Lyndenhurst is composed of 77.7% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9.4% Cabernet Franc, 4.1% Petit Verdot, 5% Merlot and 3.8% Malbec. Deep garnet-purple in color, it skips out of the glass with lively blueberries, redcurrants and kirsch scents, plus hints of cedar chest, fragrant earth and rose hip tea. Medium-bodied, elegant and lively in the mouth, the palate is chock-full of bright and crunchy red and black fruits, finishing long and earthy.
Estate Notes: Fresh notes of crushed bramble, cassis, and red cherries underpin subtle aromas of lavender, cedar, and spruce. Mineral nuances of wet slate add structure, while the tannins remain silky and supple despite the wine’s youth. A beautiful wine to be enjoyed now and for years to come.
The 2019 vintage began with a wet winter and a cool, rainy spring, which saturated the soils and set the stage for a generous growing season. To keep vigor in check, we carefully managed our cover crops and extensively pruned, suckering the vines for ideal airflow, doing multiple passes of shoot tipping, removing laterals, and dropping excess fruit. Summer brought temperate weather with no notable heat events, followed by warm post-veraison weather that provided an ideal period of pre-harvest ripening. Reflecting the character of a relatively cool growing season (which we love!), our 2019 Lyndenhurst Cabernet Sauvignon strikes a seamless balance between exuberance and elegance, while offering beautifully nuanced fruit, captivating aromatics and supple, refined tannins.
Brimming with the youthful joie de vivre that has become emblematic of its alluring and dynamic style, the 2019 Lyndenhurst was crafted from our own estate fruit and grapes from a handful of acclaimed family-owned vineyards—with each site contributing something special to the final wine. Fresh, tantalizing and generous, our 2019 Lyndenhurst offers a rare combination of pedigree and delicious approachability.
