JS98 A very serious chardonnay with phenolics and density that gives layers to the wine, as well as depth. It’s full yet tight and framed with focus. So long and beautiful. White peaches and white flowers, like honeysuckle. The real deal here. A nod to the great white burgs of the 1980s. Get some. 200 cases made. Drink or hold
TWI96 The 2021 Patria Moon Mountain District Chardonnay is produced mainly from Old Wente clone selection. Vibrant notes of fresh, crunchy Bosc pears, green guava, and fresh peaches jump from the glass, with hints of struck flint, orange blossoms, and toasted almonds, plus a touch of chalk dust. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers fantastic tension to offset the intense pear and stone fruit layers, with a creamy texture and a long minerally finish. 200 cases were made.
Sitting at almost 1,400 feet above the Sonoma Valley, Charlie Smith is the “YING” to the Ritchie “YANG”. Primary aromas of lemon oil, jasmine and pippin apple are followed by secondary aromas of chalk, spearmint and lightly roasted hazlenuts. On the palate the acidity is laser focused with flavors of lemon tart, wintergreen, tart apple and lightly pain grille. There is almost a tannic structure to this wine due to the site and this wine almost comes across as more linear than the Ritchie. Clone material : Hyde Wente. Primary and secondary fermentation : naturally occurred in 33% new French oak. Bottled without filtration.
