WA92 The 2021 Tocai Friulano Senza Freni is a hommage to Au Bon Climat proprietor and winemaker Jim Clendenen. Grapes come from the Bien Nacido vineyard, where the variety was planted in 1994 specifically for Clendenen, who loved Italian wines. It was matured for seven months in concrete, stainless steel and neutral oak. It has pure aromas of candied peaches, elderflower, fresh green herbs and beeswax. The medium-bodied palate is satiny and expansive with concentrated fruit that strikes an alluring balance of savory and herbal character. It has a foil of bright acidity and a long, flavorful finish. 95 cases were made.
