2019 Tarrawatta Shiraz Eden Valley

JD96 The deep ruby/purple-hued 2019 Shiraz Ambervale is more closed and backward, with promising ripe darker fruits as well as peppery herbs and some gamey, exotic nuances that develop with air. Rich, full-bodied, and concentrated, it has ample structure, good mid-palate depth, and a great finish. This isn’t an up-front fruit bomb, and it has real depth and class. Give bottles a solid decant if drinking any time soon, and it’s going to have 10-15 years of longevity. It’s beautifully done.
JH96 Shiraz from the Ambervale vineyard, wild fermentation, matured in new and seasoned French oak for 22 months. Deep magenta in colour, this is a deeply resonant, powerful rendition of Eden Valley shiraz packed with plush black and dark plum, blackberry and blueberry fruit notes. Dredged with spice, sage, tobacco leaf, violets, roasting meat and earth. Excellent fruit purity and density with latent power to burn and yet, a sense of grace as it sails off. A great example. JS95 This is very varietal with dark berries, sweet tobacco, crushed stones and spice. Full-bodied with integrated tannins that are long and creamy. Wet earth and dark berries at the end. Lovely finish. Juicy and delicate. Drink or hold.
