WSI95+ Very dark in color. Eucalyptus dominant nose. Vibrant dark currant aromas. On the palate, brooding, dark, ripe cherry and blackberry, intense, slight hint of burned earth, elegant and balanced, fresh vibrant red notes on the very long finish.
Jay James:
Eaglepoint Ranch in Mendocino County provides some of the deepest, richest Petit Sirah fruit for the Sean Thackrey Sirius. Even at nearly 20 years old, this wine is completely opaque in the center, yielding only a hint of color along the rim at this point. Deep black and blue fruits preside over the nose and the palate, blue plum, black cherry, blackberry – they seem to go on forever. Shows some bottle development, especially in the nose, and yet the structure of this wine is powerful. The aroma of the 2007 Sirius is perfumed with mint and eucalyptus under the fruit, evincing a dramatic, savory quality that lingers on the palate with the exceptionally long finish.
