From the Mastermind Behind Beaux Frères; Mike Etzel’s Sequitur

CLICK TO HIT THE WINE JACKPOT

From the hands of Michael Etzel, a true pioneer of Willamette Valley Pinot Noir, comes the 2022 Sequitur ‘Triple Seven.’ Etzel, co-founder of the iconic Beaux Frères, brings decades of expertise to this biodynamically farmed estate, where 17 diverse clones of Pinot Noir are sheltered by towering Douglas Fir trees. This unique vineyard, adjacent to Beaux Frères’ famed Upper Terrace, produces wines that are both powerful and precise.

On the morning of April 15, 2022, a deep frost covered the vineyard in an icy veil, threatening the budding crop. But in winemaking, as in life, sometimes luck is on your side. As the frost melted and spring returned, secondary buds emerged, yielding a near-perfect harvest. Etzel named this wine “Triple Seven”—a nod to beating the odds and coming out on top.

This gorgeous Pinot Noir bursts with vibrant notes of wildflowers and ripe pomegranate, supported by the vineyard’s signature marine sediment minerality. Aged 11 months in 35% new French oak, it’s an exceptional Pinot Noir with the elegance and depth that Etzel’s wines are known for. A must-try for lovers of rich, expressive reds.

97 POINTS – JEB DUNNUCK

The 2022 Pinot Noir Triple Seven was raised in 30% new French oak and fermented in concrete. A jeweled ruby color with a light magenta hue, it’ s pure and spicy with a savory depth to its notes of ripe raspberry, preserved cherries, wild roses, and mossy earth. Medium-bodied, it has a wonderfully refreshing feel, with ripe, well-defined tannins and a long, tapered, spiced finish. It’ s crispy and refreshing all the way through. Drink 2026-2040.
