What are this week’s hot wines?

This week brought in some highly-rated, hard to find wines including a Napa Cab and a Pinot from the Sonoma Coast (exclusively available through Wine Spectrum). A new red blend from winemaker Bridget Raymond has landed and was this week’s rising star!

2012 Courtesan 'Ronin' Red Blend- A masculine styled red wine consisting of 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Cabernet Franc. At first sip, the merlot shines though with big dark cherry and cranberry dominating the palate. The finish though is all Cab. Bold tannin and dark fruit surprise you and offer a finish that goes on for over a minute. This small production (200 cases) blend from the heart of Oakville is ages 29 months in new French oak barrels.

2012 Linked Vineyards 'Knights Valley' Cabernet-Deep rich color, velvety palate impression and fine balance are all hallmarks of Linked Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2012 vintage offers up deep cherry fruit on the nose, intense cassis and chocolate with hints of smoke, fine tannin and a long finish round out this excellent wine for the cellar or with an hour decanting. Linked Vineyards is the true embodiment of small-batch Sonoma County luxury wine. Founded by the Link Family in 2000 as a place to build a family legacy, Linked Vineyards offers ultra-exclusive, handcrafted Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon to discerning collectors. Renowned Winemaker Luc Morlet oversees every aspect of every lot, from handpicking to hand sorting, and this meticulous, gentle attention results in wines of extraordinary elegance. Every step of the winemaking process is thoughtful and deliberate.

2013 La Pitchoune 'English Hill' Pinot Noir-The 2013 English HIll Pinot Noir from Sonoma Coast is the most delicate and elegant of the newly released single vineyard wines from La Pitchoune. Located at a mere 400 foot elevation, this Pinot Noir is elegant but full of flavor. Notes of strawberries, cranberries, pomegranates and citrus rind blend together seamlessly with hints of sea breeze salinity. Well balanced acidity with smooth tannins, the finish is deliciously long. While this wine is more than able to stand on its own, pairing it with some food will set the tone and enhance any meal. Decanting recommended. Aged in French oak for 12 months.
