WSI 97 The wine produced here is miniscule, but the intensity is nothing short of incredible. Unmistakably Hundred Acre; powerful, elegant, complex, packed with concentrated black fruit and layer-upon-layer of subtle spice, mocha and smoke nuances. With the Kayli-Morgan Cab and the Ancient Way Shiraz side-by-side, the stylistic similarities are striking… both are without question among the finest wines made in the world. Drink now-2027.
WA94 Deep garnet colored, the 2007 Ancient Way Vineyard Summer’s Vineyard sings of preserved plums, Christmas pudding, figs and incense with suggestions of spice cake, licorice and Morello cherries plus a waft of tobacco. Rich, spicy and full-bodied in the mouth, it offers an alluring texture of soft, rounded tannins and just enough freshness, finishing very long and with loads of savory nuances coming through.
AG: ‘Jayson Woodbridge is one of the most focused and determined people I have ever met in the Napa Valley, or anywhere, for that matter. A man of deeply held convictions, Woodbridge knows exactly what he wants to achieve and won’t let anyone get in the way. His inner drive and passion are both remarkable. I suppose surviving cancer at the age of 18 will do that to you. Hundred Acre fans will find much to admire in this set of new releases. The Hundred Acre wines remain some of the most distinctive wines being made in Napa Valley today.’
