WSI94+ Deep solid crimson color. No browning or brick color on the edges. Nose: Vibrant cherry notes, hints of cedar, eucalyptus, crushed rose petals. On the palate, we are greeted with intense bright red cherry and raspberry dominant notes. A solid core of red fruit, followed by earthier tones, walnut and cedar, pencil shavings, all balanced and well integrated. The style is classic, ready to drink, with at least 5-7 more years at peak. This is a wine that still presents primary flavors brightly, no excess earthiness and no pungency. The fresh bouquet keeps evolving in the glass. A slight decant might benefit the experience but the wine is already so well resolved that it is enjoyable right away. Excellent!
Winemaker’s recent notes: A classic California summer growing season with plenty of last minute heatwaves before harvest. Here’s a “full blown/high ripeness” style. Explosive purple fruit aromas and mature woody teak aromas. This is not a subtle wine. If high caliber Napa Cabs are your thing you might see a familiarity in our 2013. If you prefer European subtlety and elegance, then this is not your vintage. These bottles have rested in our warehouse for more than 10 years… it has reached the peak, and we are ready to offer it at a wonderful price due to its large production (800 cases) in relation to our recent bottling.
