WA92 The other wines I tasted included a 2014 Petite Syrah Phase V, which comes from not only their estate vineyard, but the Sutro Vineyard in Calistoga. This wine spent 28 months in 400-liter French oak barrels, of which 60% was new oak. It is an impressive inky purple Petite Syrah with notes of licorice, blueberry, black raspberry, graphite and a touch of pepper. The wine is ripe and full-bodied with massive tannins. Even in 2014, this is a wine that should age nicely for up to 15-20 years.
