JD98-100 Not yet bottled, the 2016 No. 5 is a similar blend and is 91% Syrah, 6% Mourvèdre and 3% Viognier that will see just under two years in 70% new French oak. It offers slightly more stem characteristics with a La Mouline-like perfume of bacon fat, pepper, blackberries, earth, and chocolate. Deep, full-bodied, opulent and hedonistic, yet pure, elegant and structured, it’s unquestionably another brilliant wine from Jim.
Estate Notes: The Andremily No.5 is a wildly stunning elixir, made up of 91% Syrah from our usual sources, the White Hawk Vineyard in Cat Canyon, and the Larner Vineyard in Ballard Canyon, with the addition of a bit of fruit from the Harrison-Clark Vineyard which is also in Ballard Canyon. The blend includes 6% Mourvedre, and is finished off with a touch of Viognier to send the aromatics of this beauty into the stratosphere. The 2016 Andremily No.5 bursts from the glass with a nose full of Violets, Blackberry, Chocolate, and exotic spice. No.5 is full figured, yet structured and refined, having enjoyed 22 months in 70% New French Barrique, and bottled without fining or filtration.
