2016 Dr. H. Thanisch Riesling Spätlese Bernkasteler Graben Mosel

A very lively and elegant wine with aromas of ripe pineapple, citrus and honey. Its great minerality, sweetness and acidity build a perfect triology.
The Bernkasteler Graben Vineyard is located right next to the famous Berncasteler Doctor. Very old Riesling vines grow here on a slope gradient of almost 60%. This produces highly elegant and fruity wines with lots of finesse, which are especially in the residual sweet style remarkable.
The grapes have been handpicked and carefully selected in the various areas of the vineyard. They were only slightly squeezed and then left for 24 hours to macerate before being gently pressed. The wine has been fermented without any addition of cultured yeast or enzymes for a period of four till five month. After the fermentation was completed, it was left to mature for several more months on the lees in order to gain more stability and complexity. 8% alcohol
