WA95 The 2016 Pegaso Barrancos de Pizarra combines the power and ripeness of the slate soils with the freshness of the year and comes through as balanced and very complete. The oak is perfectly integrated, and the year seems like a breakthrough in the region, more elegant and floral as well as tasty, with very fine tannins and supple flavors. This is superb. 3,120 bottles produced.
Estate Notes: Very old traditional garnacha bush vines are manually harvested and spontaneously fermented in foudre, followed by an extended élevage of 24 to 30 months in 400 and 500-liter French oak barrels. Barrancos de Pizarra is produced in small amounts and is released when deemed ready.
High-altitude, mountain garnacha – Traditional bush vines, low yields – Organic farming, natural winemaking – Aromatic, ethereal, world-class
