A benchmark Primitivo di Manduria that has received many accolades both nationally and internationally, Sonetto sports the classic aromas of ripe dark berries, prunes, and dry figs, followed by layers of tertiary notes like leather, tobacco, ground pepper. A persistent, refreshing note of menthol balances Sonetto’s richness and provides for a vibrant finish.
Sonetto is Produttori di Manduria’s homage to Primitivo. The grapes are sourced exclusively from 90+ years old, head-trained vines (alberello). These are the Estate’s oldest vines, pre-dating the foundation of the Company and yielding a small crop of concentrated, rich fruit. Aged 24 months in French barriques, Sonetto is like a bridge connecting the Winery’s past, present and future: a contemporary expression of Primitivo with deep roots in Manduria’s century-old wine-growing traditions, able to age gracefully to deliver plenty of elegance and complexity in the years to come.
