Of the living winemaking legends in Piedmont, there are few quite like Roberto Voerzio. His fame is international, his philosophy uncompromising, and his Barolo wines seemingly eternal.
Aromas of black cherries, plum skin, hints of mocha, warm leather. Deep and savory, great length. PAIRING SUGGESTIONS: Grilled chicken; salumi with truffles; pasta with game sauce. Estate vines located in La Morra, facing east. Each older vine is pruned carefully, to ensure very low yields. AGE OF VINES: 35 years, on average WINEMAKING: Hand-harvested in September. Fermented on indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks. Aged 12 months in tonneaux (30% new) and 25HL “botti,” then eight months in tank. Unfined and unfiltered. 100% Barbera.
