Nicely perfumed, violets, berries, earth. Chewy, vibrant, bright, midweight in the mouth. Nice combination of savory and succulent. Flavors of dark fruits and spices that just explode on the palate, punctuated by great tannic structure and energy. Hand harvested, dried for 25 days, pressed and fermented on native yeast in large oak open top casks for 20 days, then pumped into neutral oak barrels and aged for 10 months on the lees, bottled and aged an additional 4 months before release.
Alessandro Sara is the current steward of his family’s business, including 7 hectares of old vineyards in the hills of Savorgnano del Torre, in the northern section of the Colli Orientali del Friuli. Alessandro believes that he should work in the most genuine and natural way possible to grow grapes and produce healthy wines that express the territory where he lives. He farms organically, harvests manually and lets the wines do what they will do in the cellar. These are exciting, pure wines.
