WSI95 Elegant, restrained, complex. Already a very integrated and structured wine. Sweet cherry, rose perfume with hints of sawdust, cedar and cigar box on the nose. The mouth feel is supple, vibrant with bright savory notes throughout the palate. Mocha, earth, red currants, hints of sweet vanilla and soft tannins. Stunning!
Since the release of his first 1999 Oakville Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, Doug Stanton has contemplated producing a Reserve bottling.
The 2016 Vintage was an overall exceptional one and particularly in the Napa Valley. Named in honor of Doug’s daughter, Natalie, the blend is 50% Estate Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Petite Sirah from St Helena. These vineyards were planted in 1991 and the grapes for the Reserve were selected from the best two blocks at each site. The wine was aged for 20 months in 100% new French Oak barrels. Only 90 cases were produced.
