2018 Sodaro Estate Winery ‘Felicity’ Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

DEC94 A beautifully deep nose of bramble-laden dark fruits, coal and fiddlehead ferns. The plate is extremely rich and velvety, coated with dark chocolate, fig paste and coffee grounds. The precision here is admirable, and relative the prices of other Coombsville wines, a fantastic bargain.
Drinking Window 2024 – 2038

JD94 A great value, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Felicity comes from the cooler Coombsville region and is 91% Cabernet Sauvignon and 9% Petit Verdot. Impressive, Bordeaux-like notes of blackcurrants, dark chocolate, scorched earth, and graphite all emerge from the glass. Offering full-bodied richness on the palate, it has the vintage’s purity and elegance as well as terrific mid-palate depth, building, ripe tannins, and a great finish. It’s impressive, yet its more focused, backward style on the palate suggests 4-5 years of bottle age are warranted. It’s certainly a serious, outstanding wine.

WA92 A blend of 91% Cabernet Sauvignon and 9% Petit Verdot, the deep garnet-purple colored 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Felicity slowly emerges from the glass with youthfully subtle notes of wild blueberries, chocolate-covered cherries and redcurrant jelly with unfurling scents of cassis, underbrush, lilacs and pencil lead. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers bright, crunchy black fruits with red fruit sparks and a fine-grained texture, giving a lively backbone and herbal lift on the finish.
