WSI93 Only 250 cases for this inaugural vintage. Polished, concentrated and very elegant Cab Franc! Similar to the Cab Sauvignon, but with distinct earthy notes, lots of blueberry character, texturally present tannins that integrate beautifully with the concentrated and precise fruit. A fresh, medium-bodied wine, supple and with high notes of bright red fruit on the finish. Excellent food wine!
Estate Notes: The Silver Ghost Cabernet Franc is full-bodied, expressive and rich. The nose shows notes of spring flowers, kirsch and spice while the palate is a mélange of blue and black fruits, blackberry compote and dark chocolate with a background of fine tannins. The layered textures of fruit persist during the lengthy finish. Excellent with food such as smoked sausage or chimichurri flank steak. Composition: 95% Cabernet Franc 3% Cabernet Sauvignon 2% Petit Verdot. Sourced entirely from Rutherford in Napa Valley. Aged 22 Months in French barrels (50% New). 14% alcohol.
Silver Ghost founder Weston Eidson’s great-grandfather, John Montagu, was an automobile pioneer at the turn of the last century. Being a British Lord and in Parliament, he was instrumental in much of the early automotive legislation and even gave the future Edward VII his first car ride. He was friends with Charles Rolls and Henry Royce, and his secretary served as the model for the Rolls-Royce hood ornament, the Spirit of Ecstasy, which we still see on Rolls-Royce cars today. Silver Ghost derives its name from John Montagu’s favorite car, the 1909 Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost. And like its name, the wine itself is filled with layers of richness, culture and authenticity.
