JD95 Coming from the Stoney Vine Vineyard in Walla Walla, the 2019 Syrah Psychedelic is 100% Syrah that was brought up in 33% new French oak. Gorgeous blueberry and mulberry fruits as well as iron, scorched earth, ground pepper, and cedary herb notes define this beauty. Medium to full-bodied and balanced, it has a stacked mid-palate, high quality tannins, and a blockbuster of a finish.
WA95 Smoky, spicy and robust in the glass, the 2019 Syrah The Psychedelic offers up picturesque aromas of smoked meats, black peppercorn and wild Provence herbs with a soft, stemmy essence that sways with elements of bacon fat, spiced blackberry reduction and plum compote on the delightfully dusty nose. Medium-bodied and nimble, the 13.4%-alcohol wine displays precision and finesse on the mid-palate, with a fine mineral tension and the essence of umami, sanguine and a soft, gamey character. The wine concludes with amazing persistence in the mouth over the long, evolving finish, proving another stellar bottling of “The Psychedelic.” The wine rested for 16 months in French oak puncheons, 25% first fill. Only 5,400 bottles were filled.
