DEC95 Gorgeously enticing aromas of almonds, lemon and lime zest, candied ginger and lemon oil all lead to a tremendous richness on the palate with more lemony intensity, candied ginger, white peach, poached pear, and hints of vanilla laced with the aromatic conifer and herb notes of vines growing in the shadows of immense California Redwoods. What an exciting Chardonnay, with intensity, density, grip, power and spice and a crystalline, racy finish with emerging notes of dried apricots. Complex and lovely. Clone 4 Chardonnay from the iconic Heintz Vineyard in Sonoma County, situated over 304 metres in the town of Occidental and aged 18 months in 43% new French Oak barrels. Waypoint is a label in the New Frontier Wine Co. portfolio. The wines are produced by Matt Sands and Philippe Melka, along with assistant winemaker Mark Pittman.
