2022 HdV Hyde de Villaine De La Guerra Chardonnay Carneros

WA91 The 2022 Chardonnay De La Guerra is a new wine from Hyde de Villaine that comes from both estate and purchased fruit. It has bright, inviting scents of yellow apples, meringue, jasmine, toast and flint. The palate pairs concentrated, mineral-driven flavors with a silky texture and focused acidity, and it has a long, floral finish.
Producer Notes: This wine showcases an exceptional balance of vibrant fruit and nuanced complexity. The aromas express characteristics of Asian pear, ripe pineapple, and crisp yellow apple, which intertwine with a floral note of delicate jasmine and a mineral quality similar to river stone. In the mid palate, subtle undertones of toasted almond bring a pleasing depth while notes of tangerine zest bring a “lifted” quality to the wine that extends through the finish. A notably warm growing year brings a little more weight to the palate, while a surprisingly unexpected structure of bright acidity brings freshness and length.
