NV Philipponnat Brut Non Dosé Royale Reserve Champagne

BH92 Restrained if very pretty aromas include those of discreet yeast, quinine, citrus peel and green apple. The palate impression is like that of the nose, which is to say restrained if elegant and refined with excellent punch and cut as the mousse is firm but not aggressive while the linear finish is bone-dry without being aggressively lean or sharp. I quite liked this and while it could use better depth, a few years of cellaring should add the necessary additional complexity. 70% pinot noir, 28% chardonnay, 2% meunier, disgorged June 2020
JS92 A very fresh and bright, lemon and white-peach nose with gently flinty nuances, leading to a very fresh, pared-back and clear-cut, dry palate. Drink now.
